Goshen Train Depot, Goshen VA

After dropping off my second son at the Goshen Scout Reservation in Goshen VA I took a spin through Goshen town.  I must have passed this little depot 50 times in the past but never took notice until the setting sun hit it just right and caught my eye.  Just as I got out of the car, tripod in hand, a 60 car CSX freight train passed.  Watching this huge beast pull a long train of hopper cars never gets old for me.  I used to be a real rail fan when the kids were young and really dug trains.  Its still a treat.

This is a 7 exposure HDR image merged in Photomatix, tweaked in Adobe Literoom, pulled into Photoshop and played with using Nik software plug ins.

Nice! I like the nostalgic effect of the HDR filter.

I few years ago, I spent a weekend at a nice B&B next door to the station. Its a great place to stay if you like trains..

Hope your son enjoyed Goshen… I have great memories of Camp Olmstead almost 40 years ago.
